The 543AD Founders Society

$2,500

This sponsorship level celebrates the year the church was founded by Childebert, son of Clovis and Patron to Saint Germain, the first Bishop of Paris.

With a tax-deductible* donation of $2,500 become a member of the 543 AD Founders Society by sponsoring the restoration of one of the large, paint-on-wax fresco images of the twelve Apostles.  These unique and irreplaceable works, recently restored but as yet unfunded, are found above the towering arches lining the north and south sides of the church’s central 12th-century choir

Click here for more photos, descriptions, and availability of these very special art treasures.

Contributing 543 AD Founders Society sponsors who find themselves in Paris in 2023 or 2024 will be entitled to a private tour of the church. (Requires 60 days advance notice).

The Saint Germain Society

$5,000

This sponsorship level commemorates the first Bishop of Paris and the namesake patron of the church.

Five sponsorships are currently available. A tax-deductible* donation of $5,000 entitles the sponsor to adopt one of the five extraordinary Evangelist Medallions – the Angel (St. Matthew), the Lion (St. Mark), the Bull (St. Luke), the Eagle (St. John), and the Lamb of God - at the heart of the Monks Choir. These works were completely restored prior to the pandemic but they remain in need of financing.

Click here for more photos, descriptions, and availability of these iconic medallions.

Saint Germain Society sponsors contributing $5,000 or more will be entitled to a private tour of the church.  Sponsors will also receive personalized certificates in French acknowledging their gift.

The Hipployte Flandrin Society

$10,000

Running the length of either side of the central nave is a series of ten towering murals painted by Hippolyte Flandrin from 1842 to 1864.

A tax-deductible* donation of $10,000 entitles a donor to join the ‘Hipployte Flandrin Society’. By sponsoring one of the Flandrin panels, you will be supporting the recently completed restoration of these great murals, perhaps the church’s signature artworks. Full and final financing of these panels remains a priority of our fund-raising efforts.

Please click here for before-and-after photos, descriptions, a short video presentation and explanation of each mural, and sponsorship availability of these magnificent Flandrin masterworks, unique in the history of ecclesiastical decorative arts.

In addition to the nave murals, Flandrin’s two great sanctuary paintings ‘Christ’s Entrance to Jerusalem’ and ‘Road to Calvary’ are also available for ‘Hippolyte Flandrin Society’ sponsorship.  For photos and further details, please click here.

In addition to receiving a private tour of the church, sponsors contributing $10,000 or more will receive a unique certificate in French acknowledging their gift.  They will also be invited to have their names inscribed in a future Livre D’Or sponsored by American Friends and to be kept at the church.

Major Gifts Campaign

Varies

American Friends for the Preservation of Saint Germain des Près is pleased and honored to accept tax-deductible* donations and gifts in any amount, all received with immense gratitude.

In addition to the recognized giving levels outlined above, a Major Gifts Campaign is also underway.  Central to this campaign is the possibility for donors to become recognized Major Sponsors via their financing of an integrated renovation of an entire sub-project within the church.

Each of these sub-projects is known as a File. Some files have been restored; others have not. Details, photos, and costs for these Files are found in the Restoration Catalog.  Please click here for an illustration of one of these Files, available for sponsorship.

We invite you to browse the Restoration Catalog to make your selection of a major project gift.

For further details on our Major Gifts campaigns, please contact us directly at cdonohue.salisbury@gmail.com

*Gifts for projects and unrestricted purposes are fully tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers to the extent allowable by law.  Please consult with appropriate tax advisors for specifics relating to donors’ individual circumstances.

Adopt a Star
